1. Ancient Greek Geography & Civilization Development

  • Research: How geography shaped agriculture, trade, and military strategy in classical Athens
  • Fieldwork: Parthenon, Ancient Agora, Piraeus Port

2. Tourism’s Impact on Local Geography

  • Research: Environmental and urban impacts of tourism; sustainable development practices
  • Fieldwork: Acropolis area, major tourist zones, interviews with residents

3. Transportation & Geographic Constraints

  • Research: How Athens' terrain and density affect mobility, transit systems, and urban design
  • Fieldwork: Athens Metro, key traffic corridors, multimodal transport hubs

4. Cultural Landscapes & Spatial Geography

  • Research: The interaction between ancient heritage and modern urban development
  • Fieldwork: Historical sites, cultural quarters, contemporary museums and galleries

5. Accessibility & Geography for the Visually Impaired

  • Research: Urban design and infrastructure for inclusive mobility
  • Fieldwork: Hellenic Centre for the Blind, accessibility mapping and evaluation in city areas

 

3. Program Highlights

  • Academic Credit: Earn 3 U.S. university credits through James Madison University (transferable)
  • Multicultural Immersion: Explore Greece’s geographical and cultural evolution
  • Hands-on Learning: Real-world fieldwork, spatial analysis, and student-led presentations

 

4. Admission Requirements

  • Age: 16–20 years old
  • English Proficiency: Basic spoken and written communication
  • Additional Skills: Strong self-management, collaboration, and interest in global geography

5. Program Fees

  • Greek Students: €1,500 (Includes academic credit, tuition, local transportation, lunch, and materials)
